WOW! It is hard to find the words to describe how amazing this book is! You have to read this book or you will be missing out! This is a love story that will stay with you forever. I can not wait until Book Two (In His Majesty’s Service) to find out what happens next! I am in Awe and definitely  have a new book boyfriend. Alexander is absolutely dreamy! *Sigh* I just want more of him! Every girl growing up dreams of meeting her Prince Charming. Alexander of Cambridge may be a Prince and charming but this man has a dark side that will leave you swooning. Words can not describe how explosive this book is! The sexual chemistry and tension just scorches the pages! When I started reading I was so engrossed that when I looked up it was 5 am and I still didn’t want to quit. It was that good. Alexander is a magnificent mix of Christian Grey and Gideon Cross. The author just has a way with words and I felt the connection between the characters as if I was right there with them. The whole story will melt your heart and your kindle.

Alexander is surrounded by a dark past and obligations. There are people in his life that are determined to not let him forget his role. He is an outcast in his own family after a tragic accident. When he meets Clara for the first time and they share a stolen kiss both of their world’s change. She is a light in his darkness. If only he will allow himself to take the chance.
Clara has been broken before and lived to tell the tale. She lost herself and swore she never would again. With her fresh start in Loudon and just graduated college she is independent and finding her confidence but Alexander and his tormented world may be her undoing. The title describes this book perfectly. Torn, Alexander and Clara will have to decide if love is worth more than For King and Country.

I decided to review this novel because I fell in love with the cover, but once I started to read it I enjoyed the concept of what was written. This is one that can be read for YA and up and will keep you entertained throughout, even though there are some spots that may have been slow but I think every novel needs it to build up the story. It had a little of everything including mystery and definitely twists because if you think you have figured it out watch out the author throws you another piece to unbalance what is going on. What I liked about the series is that this being the first it can be stand alone but is building a much bigger picture for the next one in line, which I look forward to reading. I’m not going to give you any spoilers because you can read about what it is about in the sypnosis, but I do want to tell you what I thought of the characters. While reading this I was able to sense what some of the characters where feeling which kept me wanting to read more, because a reader/book link to me means that the author has a natural talent of reeling you into her world. I have to say while I liked Emily, I think I preferred Theo better because of his passion to protect and cherish those he loves and cares for.  Also I enjoyed how the author introduced to us the other paranormal creatures and what angle they may feature in future parts of the series in order to stop what the main plan is. I also thought the characters where well written and attributes. I recommend this for anyone that likes paranormal and a mystery/slight romance mixture because that’s what your going to get in this one.

Even as she pounded the hell out of the bag, her body flowed in lovely symmetry. Much like the woman herself, each of her movements was precise, effortless and made with minimum motions. And a helluva lot of grace.

Her taut ass flexed and smoothed under the formfitting tight shorts women—God love them—seemed to favor. Long legs, tanned and straight, looked silky under the soft lights. Her waist was bare, and when she moved he thought he caught a glimpse of something flashing at her navel.

Holy hell, the woman had a belly-button piercing. When had she gotten the damn thing? He sure hadn’t noticed it the last time he’d seen her work out. His appreciative gaze tracked a path up her body, flowing past her curved hips to her uptilted breasts, up the smooth column of her throat. Despite her features being too austere for true beauty and marred only slightly by the iron determination in her square chin, she possessed a wildness he found fascinating.

Her auburn hair, woven into a tight braid, swayed back and forth as she moved. The glowing strands flickered with fire—filled with gold, rich coppers and hot reds.

Any adjective used to describe fire fit Marisol Asheni to a T. As in trouble.

She has done it again. This author has started to become one of my favorites because she delivers non-stop action and takes you into her world from the beginning of the novel until the end, and incorporates my favorite subject archeology and historic artifacts. In this one you follow a Fallen Angel Marisol, she is a force to be reckoned with and trust me you do not want to be on her bad side or in the way of what she is looking for. She seems like she doesn’t care about anything but when she sees Jackson all her thoughts may change when higher powers bring these two together! Jackson has always looked out for one thing himself. He has the looks, the ability, and of course the cockiness to get what he wants. That all changed when he changed sides half a year ago. Can these two set their sides aside especially since she is considered a demon to save the world once again. The plot it flawless and it will keep you entertained until the last page. The tempo keeps you on the edge of your seat, and then it will take you down a little just to build it again until the major scene which is what makes a novel well worth the read. The characters are original and have each their own uniqueness in the story, it is perfectly flowed from the first one. Even though this is book two, it can be read by itself in my opinion. However, one thing that is for sure this series is for sure one of the best in this genre and I would recommend it highly.

Like many a night, he found himself gazing up at her window. Warmth radiated from it. She would be in a chemise, the thin material moulding to her breasts. The hall doors opened and a figure came barrelling out. He nearly cursed aloud when he realised it was Katelyn. Her chemise flowed around her legs, barely covered by a thin robe. He noted her bare feet and cursed properly this time. What was the lass doing outside in such a state?
Before he managed to ask her as much, she flung her arms around him and flattened a desperate kiss to his lips. He caught on quickly. With a growl, he bundled her to him, shaking hands splayed over her back and in her hair.
“Hell fire, Katie,” he murmured as he took another kiss from her. Breaking away, he glanced around and shook his head. “What are ye doing? Anyone could see. Gillean could see.”
“I care not,” she whispered.
When she leaned up for a kiss, he released her, snatched an arm and dragged her over to the stables. One more frantic glance around and he shoved her into the doorway and pressed her against the wall. No candlelight greeted them here, only the glow from the torches outside permeated the building, slipping through the gaps between the wood. It was enough. He saw all he needed. Once more he speared his fingers under her hair, unable to resist those glossy lips, slick from his kisses. Katelyn whimpered when he captured her mouth and curled her fingernails into his back.
“Ye play a dangerous game, lass,” he muttered against her mouth.
She tugged against the hold he had on her hair and eyed him. “I am no’ afeared of Gillean.”
“Ye are, ye cannae lie to me. But I mean with me. Ye play with fire here.”
“I need ye, Finn. I am no’ afeared of ye either. I’m willing to risk getting burned.”
“Ach, we shall both be burned. No good shall come of this.” His chest heaved at the enormity of it all, at what she said. He’d always known he was secretly weak. His bold endeavours and brash behaviour covered his fears. When others saw a warrior, Katelyn saw him for who he was. Weak for her.

The cover is gorgeous and shows the highland background which follows the plot in the story, to me a cover is always key to grab the readers attention.  This is another well written novel by this author in her Highland Fae Cronicles. The author has added together two different realms into one and made it into one amazing storyline. I love historical romance, and this one has a touch of fairies. We meet again a fairy named Teile who has been trying to go back to the fae realm but has to prove herself with tasks of matchmaking. Catriona is the main lady in this story and of course is a pawn in the game (as were many back in those days) set forth by her father to marry. After an unforeseen incident happens lies start being told and next thing you know she is thrown into an even bigger mess. Can she get herself out of this problem? Finn, talk about a god gift to women. He is sent in to help a precious cargo that was asked for by his sister but seems a very reluctant to let it go after spending time with it and starts to torture himself. I swear men have definitely not changed from these times. This story will have you enthralled and you don’t even need Teile’s help (trust me not all her magic goes the way you want it just read this book). The characters are all written to where you will fall in love with them or want to beat them with a stick, but trust me they are all needed to for this treasure of a book. I highly recommend this novel to everyone! It has it all, fun, exciting, little steam, even some heartbreaking parts in it. Who wouldn’t want this!!!! Grab it you won’t regret it. I am definitely looking forward for the next one in this series because they keep getting better.

Another deafening roar exploded from the coliseum, and when it did Marla threw down her partially smoked cigarette and ground it into the polished tile floor with the toe of her shoe.  Quickly she reached for another cigarette from the opened pack in her small red handbag.  She lit it, sucked the smoke into her mouth, held her breath, coughed, and then slowly released it.  Marla didn’t smoke, but when she paced up and down the hallways of basketball coliseums, puffing on cigarettes seemed appropriate.  It gave her something to do with her hands, and it helped keep her sane. 

 

Marla Connors, recently married to head basketball coach Neal Connors, travels with her husband to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where the Piedmont State University Coyote team is playing in the NCAA Finals.  Marla has not been accepted by the Coyotes, that loyal bunch of fans who follows the university team, partly because she is almost twenty years younger than Coach Connors and a divorcée, but also because the fans are afraid she will distract her husband from his duties as head coach.  They see her as someone who married Coach Connors just for his money.  Only Gale, the older wife of assistant coach Stu Simmons, goes out of her way to be a friend to Marla.

The Coyote team is plagued with problems from the very beginning of the season, and when they finally manage to reach the NCAA Finals, it’s even worse.  Their center is caught using drugs, Athletics Director Charlie Morgan, who is also in Albuquerque for the games, makes a pass at Marla in her hotel room, and Coach Connors comes down with the flu.  No one believes that State can win the big game.

 With so much happening, Marla can’t shake the feeling that something evil is taking over her life.  She tries to convince herself that it is emotional anxiety left over from the abuse she experienced during her first marriage to Dr. Martin Andrews and that the stress from the tournament has brought it once again to the surface.  She soon learns, however, that the evil is real and it threatens not only everything she loves, but her very life.

Illegal drugs, illicit affairs, murder, and scandal that shakes the entire university system are woven inextricably into Marla’s life until eventually she comes face to face with her real tormentor.  It is only then that she realizes the full depth of her love for her husband–and his love for her.

The moon shone bright over a crystal clear lake. Thousands of stars were reflected, like floating diamonds sparkling. The breeze blew gently through red cedar, pine, and maple. The clean mountain air reminded him of camping with his family when he was a boy.
It had been so long since he had the liberty, and desire, to enjoy nature. The water called to Devlin. Carefully, without a sound, he pulled the clothes from his body and placed them on the stump beside him.
With a slow breath, he walked into the gentle ripples, creating larger crests of his own. Warm water greeted him. He dove under, swimming deeper.
A splash caught Devlin’s attention. He broke the surface to find nothing, and no one. Closing his eyes, he reached out with his senses. A lone werewolf was close.
Panic flared through him, and he started for the shore, but a woman surfaced before him. A slow smile spread on her face when he flailed back, splashing her in his surprise.
“Your heart’s pounding.” Amusement sparkled in her pale blue topaz eyes as she placed one small hand over his chest. Warmth washed through him offering a calm he couldn’t remember ever feeling.
Yet, he was terrified the Dales were tracking him. A dream, nothing more than a dream. They can’t find me, he reminded himself.
“You startled me,” Devlin replied.
“Hmm.” Her foot brushed against his calf, sending a shiver through his entire body. She tapped her finger to her chin. “You remind me of someone, but I can’t figure out who.”
Intrigued, and certainly heading toward aroused, he asked, “What makes you say that?”
One corner of her shiny pink mouth lifted impishly. “Don’t know, but you do.” Her voice had taken on a husky purr which effectively made his blood pump faster.
A dream, just a dream, he told himself. Then he did something bold, something he hadn’t done in so long he was sure he’d fail, even in a fantasy. “What’s a sweet little wolf like you doing out here all alone?”
Her giggle was melodic as her already dazzling eyes lit up. “Looking for love in all the wrong places.”
As if on cue, his resistance broke. Her tiny waist fit perfectly in his hands, her hips flared in a way that made him groan. Devlin propelled them closer to the shore, until his feet touched bottom.
Before he could make his move, her legs locked around his hips and her fingers caressed up his shoulder and neck to delve into his hair. She grazed her lips over his. Afraid to take things too far, he slid his hands up her back, pressing her full breasts against his chest.
Needing more of her taste, he deepened their kiss. Devlin felt more alive than he could remember. A dream, just a blasted dream, his brain chimed in. The knowledge didn’t stop him from sweeping his tongue into her mouth when she opened to him.
Her body undulated in tune with his, and her heated core slid against his hardened length. The urge to bury himself in her was too much.
Pulling back, he panted, “Your name? Need your name, Precious.”
“Precious?” She licked her lips as she stared back at him with something like awe in her big blue eyes.
He tipped his forehead to hers and breathed in her wild but seductive scent. “You’ve set me free of my old life. You’ve given me something to look forward to.” He didn’t know where the words came from, but he didn’t dare take them back. They felt right.
“Jamie Abrams. You better come to me.” There was a command hidden in her sweet sassy voice, one he truly wanted to obey. “I’ll be waiting.”
He nodded, rolling her name through his head like a fine wine over his tongue.
