Blurb-

Katherine Rebecca has always done exactly what was expected of her.  Her prim and proper upbringing taught her the importance of family, sacrifice, and social stature.  She has followed in her parent’s footsteps, being trained and groomed daily almost from birth, to take over the family law firm.  It was never a question of IF she wanted to but WHEN she would take the reins of the company.  She worked rigorously toward that predetermined goal her entire life. She gave up friends, boyfriends, and an exciting social life in order to propel herself through school and college.  Katherine Rebecca strived to please her parents.  More than anything, she basked in their praise and approval.  But now, at 21 years old, she finds herself leading a life that is nothing like the life she imagined for herself.

Becky has always possessed a deep love of magic.  Ever since she was a small child she has been fascinated with magicians, illusions, mystery, and the vague hope that there was some sort of real magic in the world.  But this is a secret no one knows, or at least that’s what she thought.  Until one day Becky finds a mysterious business card in her pocket that leads her to an equally mysterious man.  He opens up a whole new world of possibilities to her, one with a tantalizing proposition that she never thought imaginable.

Could magic actually be real?

Review by Sue Ellen

What happens when you are a young child and see something that fascinates you so much it follows you through your adult life! You find out everything about it including how it works, right? In this story, you receive a paranormal romance of a women whose live involved exactly that. Only thing is she has been doing it in secret because she is afraid of what everyone around her will possibly think of her, especially those that matters most, her parents.

The author has taken magic and created one of her own with this book, I would definitely call it original. There was a couple of spots that could have used maybe a little smoothing out from my reading side, but in all this book did keep me want to continue reading it because it was not your everyday paranormal or romance type read. I love a new type of book! Where there were twists in this book, the author kept my interest by adding turns that I did not expect. Including a mystery man that appears and changes her life possibly forever! It is part of a series that the author has only just begun so get ready for a ride, I am anxious to see where the characters will go with the next one

First I would like to tell you that I am completely entranced by this cover. I fell in love with it from the beginning when I did the cover release for it and immediately knew I wanted to grasp my hands on it when it came out. Some covers don’t fit the book, but this one was meant for it perfectly. On another note, this is the first time I have read anything by this author, but just reading what the synopsis was and my fascination with pirates and the ton this was another reason where I needed to find out if it was up to my expectation. On books like this I tend to sometimes criticize these more because of my love for the time period. However, with that being said, the author has done a phenomenal job with this book. The way she included some historical details were also a great thing to peak her readers minds. Not many books will keep me up all night and into the morning reading it because I didn’t want to put it down (including reading it while cooking, yes I did that).

She starts off by giving you a little back story of why Marin way he is going from a well trusted navy captain to a pirate, and the father of Cori. Marin has turned his heart into ice after that incident so long ago he can’t even love his own daughter, you need to read this to understand the way a daughter should NEVER be treated by her own father. While, she still has felt this coldness all her life she still loves her father but is held as a prisoner on her own father’s ship and is treated as such including working to the bone. This has definitely built her up for the unexpected that the author throws at her readers, trust me I think you will be hooked as I was. Captain Burke Belcourt is sent on a mission to capture the most notorious pirate of all but after a stupid move gets himself caught and must work together with a certain prisoner to escape, yet keep his heart at bay due a lie told by the deceiving Lady Oldie.  Can you see the wonderful twist the authors has brought to you and how many ways your mind is wondering just with these different scenarios? Oh and the topping to the cake is of course the romance that starts to weave between Burke and the beautiful Cori, but Cori believes him to be just another pirate!

She describes her characters and the story surroundings so you know what is going on and can picture them in your mind down to what they look like, but also leaves you with some to be able to throw your own little parts into. Will Captain Belcourt capture the notorious pirate Captain Marin? Will Belcourt be able to escape both his captors and the evil clutches of the deceiving Lady Oldie or will be end up having to marry her and be unhappy? Can love conquer all!!!!! To answer all of these questions you definitely must read this book by the author because to me it is one unlike any I have read before with her own little twists. I have found a new author to follow and will be looking at some of her other books to read in the near future!

Synopsis

Romance has met its most unlikely match-up…

Luke Bradford is a chocolatier on a mission.  After moving his chocolate shop, and newly single life, to the quirky town of Cactus Creek, Luke wants nothing more than to devote all his energy into making his business a success—by taking the romance market by storm.  But his grand plans get thrown for a loop when he locks horns with the feisty beer-brewing beauty next door who calls his ‘romantic idealism’ a load of fairytale bull.  Soon, driving the woman sparking nuts becomes another wickedly fun priority he simply can’t get enough of.

In his defense, she’s addictively easy to incite…and plain impossible to resist.

Beloved local brewmaster Dani Dobson is beyond riled up.  It’s bad enough the new shop owner in town comes locked and loaded with both a distractingly rugged charm and sexy flashing dimples, but the whole only-in-the-movies variety of romance he’s selling—the kind her world has been crushed by before—is really doing a number on her allergy to unrealistic clichés.  What’s worse, he’s created an annoyingly clever ad campaign that dubs ‘beer joints’ like hers as the “cave where romance goes to hibernate.”  The nerve of that man.

Combustible chemistry or not, damn it, this means war.  The stakes…very likely, her heart.

Excerpt

“Don’t you dare laugh at me, you ass!”

“I wasn’t laughing.  I was smiling.”  The glare Dani shot him could’ve leveled a city.

His hand halted an inch from sliding into her hair again, or rather, an inch from her now fully visible teeth.  “Why do I get the feeling biting a hunk of flesh out of me wouldn’t be beneath you”—Luke blinked, fascinated—“Did you just growl at me?”

While he was now showing her the same caution one would a feral cat, his heated gaze said he found her ferocity inexplicably sexy.  “Yes, I was smiling about your drought; so sue me.  I like the thought of you not remembering any kisses but mine.”  His eyes roamed her face.  “To hell with it, I don’t need all ten fingers…”  He caressed her cheek and she felt her eyelids drift closed at the touch.

“Dani, you in there?” bellowed Javier, one of her cooks from the kitchen.  “Can you bring out the—”  His severed request morphed into a muffled howl, a high octave just below soprano.  “Never mind,” he reneged in a squeaking gasp of male agony shortly after.

Dani winced, recognizing the audible footprint of Xoey’s handiwork.  The mental image of Xoey de-balling poor Javier threw Dani back to the here and now.  As reality rushed in, she could once again hear the bar noises sifting in under the door, smell the savory aromas from the grill, and see—even in the semi-darkness—that she’d been minutes from rounding a few of the bases with a perfect stranger.

Avoiding his eyes, she fiddled with her bar apron.  “I should probably get back to work.”

“Right, of course.”  He stood and helped her up.  “Sorry, I never lose my head like that.  Not sure what’s up with me…huh, that sounded a lot dirtier than I intended—”  He stopped and grinned when a ripple of amusement tinkled past her lips.

She couldn’t help but chuckle.  This was fun; he was fun.

As she rolled the liquor cart to the door, Dani racked her brain for a sexy comeback to keep the banter going.  Not exactly her forte.

Luckily, she was saved from making a conversational ass out of herself when he abruptly stepped in front of the cart and said, “I know you have to get back out to the bar but I’ll never forgive myself if I let you walk out this door without getting you to agree to have dinner with me.”

He cringed in sheepish male hindsight.  “Though I’d probably settle for at least getting your name.”

Right, names.  Or the lack there of, in their case.  The whole reason she’d stopped kissing him to begin with.  She stuck an awkward hand out in belated greeting.  “My name’s Danica.  But everyone calls me Dani.”

He intertwined his fingers with hers and drew her in close, turning an awkward moment into an insanely sexy one in a few seconds flat.  Lowering his head slowly as if to give her a chance to say no, he laid a soft, barely there kiss on her lips when she didn’t.

“Nice to meet you, Dani.”  His two dimples flashed as he said her name.  “I’m Luke.”

Their magical, movie soundtrack moment was interrupted, however, by a dread-filled, hushed voice on the other side of the door.  “Dani?”  Javier’s whisper was tinted with panic.  “I’m really sorry but we need to get more coriander.”  A low murmur joined his.  “And cooking tequila too.”

Dani screwed her eyes closed in embarrassment and called out, “I’ll bring them out, guys.”

She was barely through her sentence when she heard the two of them scrambling away from the door.  There was definite cursing in Spanish.  Along with some praying.

The sound of lethal pointy-toe boots stomping after them was the obvious reason why.

“I really ought to get out there,” she groan-laughed.  “Cooking with one hand while protecting their crotch from Xoey’s wrath probably isn’t all that safe.  Or sanitary.”

“As a protective guardian of the same anatomy, and an avid non-fan of any variety of jockstrap cuisine, you have my sincere appreciation.”  His earnest look caused another round of mirth to unwind through her.  “Just so we’re clear,” he added quickly, “you do know a kiss after a dinner invite is a universal ironclad yes, right?”   His tone was matter-of-fact, his eyes adorably optimistic.

“That so?”  She let loose a grin and tossed out, “Did I agree to anything else?”

“Just a few other things I won’t be able to stop thinking about until our date,” he teased right back.

She stared at him for exactly one missed heartbeat before that whole bout of temporary insanity she’d been worrying about earlier flared up and caused her to do the most un-Dani thing ever.

She tackled him.

Well, she sort of just pushed him back into the storage room but in her mind it had been far more primitive.  Hands on the ridges of his torso, she tugged him in for one final kiss.

And released him a long minute later with a whispered, “I’ll be thinking about those things too,” as she basically floated to the door.

Jesus Christ.”  Luke’s tortured breath trailed close behind her.

By the feel of the rustling at the small of her back, he was attempting to adjust the fit of his jeans.  When that resulted in apparent failure, he muttered in her ear, “You had to wait till after I finally got my soldiers to stand down from earlier, didn’t you?”

If there was a complaint in there somewhere, it was altogether undetectable.

And Dani was entirely unrepentant.

Fueled Synopsis

Book #2 of the Driven Trilogy

What happens when the one person you never expected suddenly happens to be the one you’ll fight the hardest to keep?

Colton stole my heart. He wasn’t supposed to, and I sure as hell didn’t want him to, but he crashed into my life, ignited feelings within me that I thought had died forever, and fueled a passion that I never knew could exist.

Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet and into my life. Now I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. She’s seen glimpses of the darkness within me, and yet she’s still here. Still fighting for me. She is without a doubt the saint, and I am most definitely the sinner.

How is it the one thing neither of us wanted—neither of us anticipated that fateful night—has us fighting so hard to keep?

He steals my breath, stops my heart, and brings me back to life again all in a split second of time. But how can I love a man who won’t let me in? Who continually pushes me away to prevent me from seeing the damaged secrets in his past? My heart has fallen, but patience and forgiveness can only go so far.

How can I desire a woman who unnerves me, defies me, and forces me to see that in the deep, black abyss of my soul there’s someone worthy of her love? A place and person I swore I’d never be again. Her selfless heart and sexy body deserve so much more than I’ll ever be capable of giving her. I know I can’t be what she needs, so why can’t I just let her go?

We are driven by need and fueled with desire, but is that enough for us to crash into love?

BORDERLAND BRIDE EXCERPT

“Isabel, what in God’s name are you doing?”
“I am returning to my father,” she told him breathlessly.
“You would see yourself in that monster’s hands? Why?”
“I cannot see Thornewall suffer for my sakes. And I cannot see you or Dominic harmed. Not for me.”
“We are grown men; will you not let us make these decisions ourselves? Thornewall is strong, we have endured worse.”
Isabel shook her head. “Nay, I will not see war brought to your door. If my father fails here, then he will turn his attention to your lands. They have not the strength of Thornewall, you have said as much yourself.”
Jake squeezed her arm until he saw her wince. Damn his brutish manners. He could not let her throw herself into the arms of a murderer for their sakes. “I can defend my lands, lass. I’ve done it before and I’ll gladly do it again.”
But she was right, Greycroft was ill prepared for a full-scale war and his own castle would not hold out long against a siege. It was likely he would die defending it.
“That is what I fear,” she said softly and Jake wondered if he had spoken aloud.
Her voice took on a desperate quality and she pulled against his grip. “Let me go, Jake, for I cannot allow you to place yourself in danger for me. Not for a woman that hurt you so.”
He considered her and saw the fear in her eyes – a fear that was not for herself, but for him, his brother, and all their people. How he could ever have thought her as wicked as his wife, he knew not. There was nothing in this lass but kindness. He gulped, fighting the words he would have to say. There was no other way.
“Isabel, you do not have to return.”
“I do, Jake!” She struggled again.
“Listen…” He grabbed at her other arm and pinned her still. “Listen, there is another way. Marry…”
She ceased her struggles and stared at him.
“Marry Dominic.”
Isabel blinked at him. “What?” she whispered.
“Marry Dominic. Your father would be a fool to say nay to such an allegiance. He is one of the richest men in England. There will be no war and you will be safe.”
Safe. He clung to the word, trying to ignore the ache in his heart. It didn’t matter, as long as she was safe. In spite of himself, he urged her to say nay, to confess her love for him, but he knew it could come to nothing. He had nothing to offer Lord Henry in return for her hand.
Isabel gaped at him. “Marry Dominic? But…did he decide this?”
“Nay.” He sighed. “‘Twas my idea.”
She gulped and her eyes misted with tears as she took a deep breath. Her composure regained, she shook her head in disbelief. “Why would you suggest such an idea?”

BORDERLAND BEAUTY EXCERPT

Holding out his hand, his dipped his head and eyed her from under his brow. “Will you dance with me, Lucy?”
She hesitated, glancing around as the couples took their positions. “I know not this dance.” In truth, she knew few dances, having avoided them for most of her life.
“I will teach you.”
Dominic snatched her hand and led her to the centre of the floor. Her heart slammed into her chest at the touch of his fingers. Why did his touch always incite such a reaction? Glancing around, she realised she could hardly tear herself away from him. Many were watching them. Especially the women.
“Stand there,” he ordered as he stepped back.
Her eyes darted from Dominic to the other dancers who moved confidently around them. He motioned for her to step forward and she did so, bringing herself closer to him. The dancers circled one another and Lucy mimicked them. His sapphire eyes remained on her, bright and alert and her skin tingled under his scrutiny. Why watch her so closely?
“Now step back,” he murmured.
She did as he bid, stepping back a little later than the other dancers. Her cheeks filled with heat but she could not tell it if was because of his examination of her or her lack of dancing ability. His eyes continued to follow her avidly and she dropped her gaze. Nay, it was Dominic who was the cause of her blush.
The dancers lined up and Lucy stumbled back, her eyes narrowing as Dominic’s crinkled in amusement. A lord and lady wove between them, working their way up the line. The lady’s hand brushed across Dominic’s chest as she passed, a flirtatious smile on her lips, and Lucy clenched her teeth together. He flicked a disinterested look at the woman before securing his gaze back onto hers.
Lucy and Dominic did the same, weaving through the other dancers until they reached the end of the line. Keeping her spine stiff, she resisted the urge to peek at him as she did so, but as they faced each other one more, his blue eyes caught hers and she could do little else but stare back.
Lord, she was getting lost in those penetrating eyes.
Stepping forward hastily, her eyes widened as his hands came about her waist. He lifted her easily and her heart came into her throat. The ladies around her squealed in delight as they too were lifted and then placed down, but surprise had struck her dumb.
“Move back,” he commanded quietly, his eyes darkening.
She faltered as she retreated, her pulse beating erratically. His look of desire confused her and she pulled her chin up. She would not be toyed with like this. It was time to wrest back some control.
They repeated the first movements and Lucy stepped confidently now. “I hear tell that you are searching for a wife,” she stated archly.
Dominic barely blinked. “Aye, ‘tis true. Why? Are you interested?”
“Hardly.” She released an unsteady laugh. “I thought you were to be married to Lady Isabel of…of Greycroft.”
“I was.” He circled her, appraising her openly as he did so.
She followed him with her gaze, hoping he could not see through her bold look. “But it seems she married your brother.”
“That she did.”
“Are you not angry? Did she not wound your ego?”
He shook his head with a shrug. “Nay. Jake loves his wife very much, why would I begrudge him that?”
“You did not love her?”
“I love Isabel as a sister. She is a fine woman but she is better suited to my brother. I do not regret that she is not my wife.”
“She probably does not regret it either,” she said with the raise of an eyebrow.
They wove their way in and out of the line and they waited as the other dancers took their place.
“Isabel did not suit me, but a woman like you…you would suit me very much.”
“Ha, you think me foolish enough to fall for such talk? I have heard much of your reputation, Dominic of Thornewall. You would promise marriage just for the chance of a tumble. I would not give up my virtue to such a man.”
His hands came upon her waist. “That sounds like a challenge,” he said before lifting her effortlessly.
He placed her down and Lucy gaped at him, speechless. The people around them clapped as the music ceased but Lucy paid little attention. Raw desire glinted in his expression and her stomach twisted. Surely that look was not for her? He was teasing her, playing with her, luring her in so he could strike her down.
She curled her fists and clamped her mouth shut as she swivelled on her heel. She would not let him make a fool of her again.

REVIEW BY SUE ELLEN ON BORDERLAND BRIDE

I would have to say the author has brought another exceptional well written novel to her readers with The Borderland Legacy. Borderland Bride is the first in a two book series, but each can stand alone. While riding out, Jake find Lady Isabel and takes her to his brothers keep. They find out she does not have the capable to hear or talk due to an accident that happened. He believes that he kept all his feelings blocked away since his ex wife, while Lady Isabel seems to be hiding a secret too. Can these two recover over their trust issues and learn that their is possibly something more there or will they throw everything away?

The author manages to show that when you lose your sense of hearing and talk other senses will start to cover those. I love the strong characters that she has written in this book. She shows that Lady Isabel has a sense of independence and her love for those around her and self sacrifice, especially during this one part in the novel she was willing to sacrifice everything just to save the friends she made and love. Jake’s love for his brother is strong and he is willing to do anything for Dominic’s keep even if its give up the love of his life, but you also see a caring side of him besides the temper that he likes to portrays. With all of these different characteristics to me the plot still flowed perfectly, and lets not forget the mixture of suspense! I say that this is another well worthy reading novel to pick up, this author always seems to amaze me with what she brings next!

REVIEW BY SUE ELLEN ON BORDERLAND BEAUTY

I would have to say the author has brought another exceptional well written novel to her readers with The Borderland Legacy. I loved this book and you are able to tell that a lot of effort and passion was brought into both of the novels in the series. You receive a little bit of story about Borderland Bride but not enough to ruin the book in case you have not read it, I do recommend reading both of these novels. In this one you meet one of the brothers Dominic who has been followed by a reputation of being what you consider a ladies man, but never how he truly is except for a good lord of the keep. Also you meet the stubborn (love her character) Lucy that due to a comment made to her by a handsome young man has truly believed herself unable to be loved even though she has grown into her figure by now. Dominic has never had to prove himself worthy to anyone, least of all a women, so this book has definitely gives you a laugh in the way he tries to make her esteem go up and also make her open her eyes and see how he feels. Or is he only doing it for a certain reason? Then you definitely get a twist to this book that normally happens to the women in these sort of novels, but the author weaves it perfectly. LOL this was definitely a great read and the way the author keeps you attached to her books is what makes an amazing author. My recommendation for this book is to go grab your copy and begin to be enchanted trust me you will love it!

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Thank you for taking the time for the interview. Please answer the following questions; if there are a couple you want to reword or don’t answer because too much for general public just delete it.. 😀

1. Did you always wanted to be a writer? If not what did you want to be?

I originally trained to be a nurse and also studied archaelogoy with the intention of going into that, but neither happened. I’ve done various jobs since but never considered writing until I penned my first book. I caught the bug and never looked back.

2. When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?.

When I could actually pay my bills! At that point, I took it seriously and I treat it like a full time job now.

3. How long did it take to get your first book published?

I self-published my first book but my fourth was traditionally published. I took about four months for me to get that contract. It was a nerve-wracking wait!

4. Do you do another job except for writing and can you tell us more about it?

No I don’t. I’m very lucky that writing pays enough so I don’t have to supplement it with another job. I worked in retail for a while before I started writing and hated it. I’m so glad I don’t have to do that anymore!

5. As a self-publisher, do you have any plans to submit to a publish company? It is my understanding some authors prefer to stay as a self publish author because of flexibility.

I’m a hybrid author, so I do both. There are real benefits to both sides and I plan to do both. Traditional publishing means you have to follow their timeline which can take a long time. For example, one of my books I signed last year was given a release date a year ahead. So if I want to continue to bring stories to my readers in the meantime, I need to self-publish. I enjoy the control but it is much more expensive and also I’m very aware I rely on the self-publishing platforms. As many people know, last year some books were pulled from stores because of an overreaction from Kobo in the UK. That could happen again.

6. How long does it usually take you to write a book, from the original idea to finishing writing it?

It varies. My most recent book took about a month and a half and a few have only taken a month. The Borderland books took me about three months.

7. What can we expect from you in the future? ie More books of the same genre? Books of a
different genre?

I’m releasing my first full-length contemporary this month and I’d never say never, but for the moment that will be it in that sub-genre. I’ve got the third Borderland book releasing this year and  a short fantasy novella AND my next highland book. Historical romance will always be my first love.

8. What made you decide to write that genre of book?

I love history and I had been devouring medieval romance. I also live in an area with a very strong medieval history. There’s lots of amazing old buildings and castles around me so it felt very natural for me to write medieval romances.

9. Do you have a certain routine you have for writing? (ex. write better at nights, with music, etc)

I like to have music playing but other than that, I just sit down and get on with is. I try to do a normal 9-5 type day but I’m usually better at writing in the morning, weirdly even when I’m half asleep!

10. Are there any hidden messages or morals contained in your books?

Not really. I hope to create strong, intelligent heroines who people can admire but mostly I write to entertain. If I can leave people with a warm fuzzy feeling, then I’ve done my job.

11. Your favorite food is?

Pastries of any kind. Though I don’t get on very well with gluten so I can’t eat them very often 😦

12. Your favorite singer/group is?

Poets of the Fall at the moment, an alternate rock band. Their lyrics and mesmerizing.

13. Your favorite Author is?

Sue Grafton. Her female PI character, Kinsey Millhone influenced me majorly when I was growing up. I wanted to be strong and resilient like her.

14. When you aren’t writing what do you do to relax and have fun?

Relax? No, I’m not sure I know what that word is… I am a workaholic but I force myself to take Sundays off. I usually spend it with my husband and twin girls. We often go out for breakfast or lunch and then take the dog for a long walk or play games. Last weekend we were doing Just Dance Disney. Husband kicked my butt which was very annoying!

blurb 2

Within these pages lie kingdoms with castles and princes who fall in love with fair maidens, but make no mistake−this is no fairytale.

His father’s kingdom is on the brink of upheaval and at the center of it all is an ordinary girl who could be the key to its undoing. When faced with the ultimate choice, will he choose the girl he’s falling in love with or the kingdom he has sworn to protect?

An ordinary girl with an extraordinary past. All she wants is to be free. What she doesn’t realize is that freedom comes with a price she can’t afford to pay. She’s forced to accept the proposal of a prince she despises, even though her heart belongs to someone else . . . his brother.

Seventeen-year-old Rema lives in a brutal kingdom where travel between regions is forbidden, people are starving, and looking at someone the wrong way can mean death. Nineteen-year-old Darmik is the king’s son and Commander of the King’s Army. He spends his days roving the island, doing his father’s bidding and trying to maintain control over the people.

When a chance encounter throws Rema and Darmik together, they share an instantaneous connection, but any sort of relationship between them is strictly forbidden. Darmik’s brother, the Crown Prince, notices Darmik’s interest in Rema and, in a calculated, political move, blackmails her. Faced with an impossible choice, Rema is forced to sacrifice her heart in order to save her family.

As Rema is taken to the palace with the Crown Prince, Darmik confronts the growing rumor that a legitimate blood heir to the throne exists and is trying to overthrow Darmik’s family. In Darmik’s quest to hunt down and kill the threat, he discovers that nothing is as it seems. Locked in the king’s castle, Rema finds herself a key player in a massive power struggle. When Darmik shows up, she’s not sure if she can trust him. The line between friends, enemies, and loyalty becomes blurred. As truths are unlocked, Rema understands that she just might be the key to finding the rightful heir and restoring peace to the kingdom… if she can manage to stay alive long enough.

excerpt 2

“Prince Darmik,” she politely nodded, getting to her feet on her own. Her eyes quickly scanned him from head to toe, lingering on his royal markings that covered his neck and shoulders. The black stallion whinnied and ran away from them. Tabitha sighed, exasperated. “What are you doing here?”

“Um,” he wasn’t usually at a loss of words, but there was something about her piercing gaze that made him forget what he was doing. She cleared her throat and brushed the dirt from her dress.

“Sorry about that,” he pointed to her, indicating the collision. Her eyes darted behind him. Darmik glanced back, but no one was there. “Are you looking for someone?” he asked.

“My uncle. He’s waiting for me. We just came to deliver this horse.” She waved her hand toward the black stallion grazing nearby.

Tabitha certainly was bold, and far more interesting than any of the nobles Darmik had ever met. But then again, she wasn’t from the noble class—she was from the merchant class. Still, she stood out like she didn’t belong to anyone or anything.

“Tabitha?” He took a step toward her, wanting to get closer.

“That’s not my name,” she stated.

“Excuse me?” He remembered her band: Tabitha, seventeen years old, niece of Kar and Maya, not yet married or engaged.

“Aren’t you the commander of the King’s Army?” she asked. Darmik nodded. “Don’t you have an army to run? Or do you only hunt and mosey about, pretending to be of use to the kingdom? I thought King Barjon would manage to keep you busier.”

Was she serious? Nobody had ever spoken to him in such a manner.

“Well,” he began to answer, but she started laughing.

“I go by Rema.” She held out her hand in greeting.

Darmik never shook hands with anyone. Even though he was the commander of the army, he was also a prince, and his men addressed him as such. Shaking hands was for commoners. Her pale hand remained suspended in air, waiting for him.

His hand slid into hers. “Prince Darmik,” he responded, shaking her warm hand, eager for the chance to touch her again.

“I got that part,” Rema smiled. Her breath smelled sweet like apples. She tried pulling her hand from his, but he refused to release her.

“Let me escort you inside the stables.” Darmik put her hand on his arm. She seemed reluctant at first, but he pulled her along toward the front of the stables, not giving her a chance to refuse. “Do you live nearby?” he asked.

“Yes.”

When she didn’t elaborate, he forged on. “I haven’t seen blonde hair very often. Does your mother have the same coloring?” As soon as he asked the question, he knew he’d made an error. Her body tensed. He looked down at her, remembering her band said she lived with her aunt and uncle. Rema shook her head, refusing to answer.

Afraid he’d offended her, he continued on. “I’ve traveled to Emperion. Almost everyone there has blonde hair and blue eyes.”

“You’ve been to Emperion?” she asked, squeezing his arm.

“Yes. For training.”

Rema’s eyes widened. “Tell me about it,” she demanded. Darmik smiled in response to her excitement.

“Rema!” a stablehand yelled.

“I forgot about my uncle,” Rema said. “He’s waiting for me. I have to go.” She jerked her hand away from Darmik’s arm and spun around, heading back the way they came. Rema glanced over her shoulder and smiled at him. Then she rounded the corner and disappeared.

Not ready for her to go, Darmik jogged after her. Nearing the corner, he heard the boy say, “We’ll miss seeing you Rema.” Darmik turned the corner and saw the stablehand holding a pitchfork, his face bright red. “You have such a way with the horses,” the boy stammered.

“I’m getting married, not dying.” She smiled mischievously. “You’ll see me again.”

“Rema,” Darmik couldn’t help himself. “You’re engaged?”

The stablehand dropped to one knee and bowed his head.

Rema’s smile vanished. Standing just behind her next to the stables was an older man. The elderly man’s eyes moved from Darmik to Rema and back again. His face lost all color as he knelt on the ground. Darmik assumed this was Rema’s uncle.

Rema’s eyes bore into Darmik’s. “Yes, Prince Darmik,” she answered, kneeling before him. “I am engaged,” she replied softly. “The signed contract was delivered to Lord Filmar today. My band is going to be marked tomorrow.”

Darmik was about to reply when a flicker to his left caught his attention. His brother, Prince Lennek, stood just inside the stables with a devious smile. Darmik prayed he hadn’t drawn any attention to Rema. Lennek leaned against the wall, watching.

“You’re dismissed,” Darmik said, trying to sound nonchalant. He moved past Rema, into the stables. Seconds later, Darmik heard the sound of a wagon pulled by horses, and Rema was gone.

Lennek sauntered over to him. “She was beautiful, in a wild sort of way,” he mused. “She looks like a bit of a challenge.” He cocked an eyebrow. “Might be fun though. And you know how much I love a challenge.”

Darmik had the urge to punch that smirk off his brother’s face. Lennek always knew which buttons to push. Anytime Darmik was interested in something, Lennek had to have it, whether he wanted it or not, just to prove he was better.

Darmik drew in a deep breath, smelling horse sweat and sweet hay. He couldn’t dismiss Rema—Lennek was too smart and perceptive. “Blonde hair is so rare that I found her appearance interesting. Not my type though. Not only is she a commoner, but she’s engaged.”

Lennek’s eyes sparkled. “Definitely a challenge.”

“Laws are laws, Lennek. Some not even you can break.”

“No,” he laughed, “but there are always ways around them.” Lennek strolled out of the stables.

The Key was an exceptionally well written story and it blew me away from the beginning to the end. The author starts out by giving her readers a back story on how a major takeover was done in a kingdom, while now a cruel and evil king has been ruling for 17 years. Total chaos, starvation, and segregation between the various sectors has ruined a quiet kingdom. However, there is a possible heir that may have survived, or so rumor has it!

Rema has grown up in one of these horrible times but been kept from everything and everyone by her aunt and uncle except for the neighbors next door. She is head strong, independent and wants her freedom but will do anything for her aunt and uncle. While we meet the king’s sons Darmik and his brother Lennek, they are definitely different. One is a strong commander but is not fully agreeable with the way things is done; while the other in my opinion is a spoiled rotten prince who needs a lesson learned.  He is as evil as his father if not worse!!!

The author brings you this amazing story that I didn’t want to put it down, her characters seem so real that it takes you into their world. The descriptions in my opinion was just enough for my imagination to actually picture it, and not drag on. To me she brings a total package into one and then leaves it open for more. I would definitely recommend this book. When I got done reading this book my exact words to the tour host was “Amazing book and stopped it at a perfect time, BUT ARGH I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT.. This is what is an amazing author.” Well done and I will without a doubt be looking forward to the next book and future books by this author. Trust me you do not want to miss this.

This book was Amazing!

Brooke along with her sister has always known there was something different about herself but didn’t know what until they were older. Lets just say they were in for a surprise when they found out exactly what it was, their powers where not just a simple power but an ancient form called the Solsti. A lash demon named Kai and Brooke have been at each others throat since the beginning of them meeting with good reasons. However, when a form of demons come through to Earth these two must put their feelings aside and find out who is behind sending these to the human realm and how far Brooke can push her powers.

Watch out the world is in trouble with these two go into the Demon Realm of Torth. Especially when they also have a physical attraction they have been trying to fight and Kai has a history with the place! Of all the descriptions, danger, and action the author brings to you in this book you will be wrapped in the world she creates and wanting more.  With as much that happens in this book some books seem like it is thrown together but in Wicked Waves it flowed smoothly and didn’t have any blank points in the story. The story line and characters she creates in the book is remarkable and entertaining for the readers. With each book you find yourself receiving a story and a main story within itself, kind of like a puzzle.

While this book is the second one in a series, it can stand alone. Just to let you know though the first one is just as good as this one and you should read the first also because it gives you a little more on the storyline about Nicole (Brooke’s sister).  I can’t wait until Wicked Flames comes out because this sister has been a little more difficult so it will definitely be interesting on how they get her to use her powers. This author has definitely became one of my favorite author.

SHARON KAY

Sharon Kay was bitten early by the writing bug.  At age twelve she wrote a short story, about a magic ring, that won a statewide Young Authors contest.  With her nose always in a book, she read the most novels for her age group in her local library’s summer reading program. In her teens, writing took a back seat to fashion, as she was determined to find clothes different from what everyone else bought at the mall.  And what she couldn’t find, she created.  She learned to sew, worked in a fabric store after school, and spent her spare time with a needle in hand.  Her black and orange prom dress is still one of her favorite creations. Sharon lives in the Chicago area with her husband and son, and didn’t expect to write again.  But Wicked Wind and the Solsti series formed in her head one weekend and refused to stay quiet until she put pen to paper.  Her characters tend to keep her up at night, as they banter, fall in love, and slay endless varieties of power-hungry demons. excerpt 2

No, I’m not married.”

“But…the ring?”

I raised my hand to look at my wedding band. I never thought to remove it. I shrugged. “Widowed. Five years.”

“You thought I didn’t like the kiss?” he said incredulously.

I felt him tense when I leaned in and placed my mouth to his. This time, I was the one that caused the moan to escape his lips. “It’s kind of like riding a bike,” I mused.

“I thought you were leaving.” He smiled slyly.

“I thought you didn’t want me to.” I kissed him again.

“Jess…I loved the kiss. I just didn’t want to have to convince you to leave your husband for me.” His fingers gripped my hips and he nuzzled my neck, his words hot on my skin. “I think you’ll need to sit on the other side of the room for us to continue to talk or I’ll end up breaking my word.”

“What word would that be?” Tangling his hair through my fingers, I laughed when he playfully nipped at my jaw.

“That I didn’t invite you here for sex,” he mumbled.

I found my lips craving his. His mouth tasted so good. “But you did. Didn’t you,” I stated, pulling back a little.

“No. You aren’t like the others.” He ran kisses along my collarbone trying to distract me.

“Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad to go back on my word.” Hope filled his voice. “You know, if you’re a willing participant.”

“Maybe,” I muttered when his mouth found mine again and again, sending a zing straight through my body. My breath caught when his hand found its way under my shirt and his knuckles grazed over my nipple. Regaining my wits, I stepped back. “No. I can’t. We have to stop.” I side-stepped him and rubbed my face, readjusting the shirt that had become bunched around my breasts. “We shouldn’t…well, we should at least slow down.”

He turned away and appeared to be readjusting himself. “You’re right. That isn’t how I want this to go.” He grabbed a new bottle of beer and plopped onto the far end of the couch, taking a long swig.

“How did you see it going?”

Penn stared blankly. “I don’t see it going into my bedroom if that’s what you’re asking. You already seem to have gotten the Penn is a douchebag memo. I don’t want them to be proven correct.”
