I really enjoyed this book! It was fast paced and kept me reading. It was fresh and new! The story line was great. It had murder,mystery, suspense, romance and a ghost story all wrapped up in one. If you like to read romantic suspense then this book is for you.
Blake is an independent women, she gives up the high life of New York to pursue her dream of cooking and buys an old house and lighthouse in a small town in Maine. She had no idea that it is haunted. She gets more than she bargains for.
Declan is a mysterious man. A man with a lot of secrets. He is an undercover DEA agent working on a case. Blake wants to trust him but knows if she gives him her heart there’s a good chance he will break it but first they have to survive a killer that has set his sight on getting rid of Blake.
This was the first time I have read a book by Gwenan Haines and I look forward to reading many more!

“Wait,” I look up at him. “We need to get some things straight between us. I’m sorry that I screwed us up. I never should have asked you to be with me just because Bobby rejected me. I was angry and hurt but that did not give me the right to use you. It was not my intention to change our relationship and if I could go back to that night I would do it because I lost my best friend that night and I want him back.”

“You didn’t lose me Lisa. You could never lose me. Do I want more than friendship with you? Yes but I wanted that before we slept together. If all I can have of you is friendship I’ll take it. Do I fantasize about you waking up one morning and seeing that Bobby is not worthy of your love? Hell yes because I don’t want to have to pick up pieces of your heart again. And I owe you an apology too. After that night you needed me to be your friend and all I wanted was to be with you again. I couldn’t see that by not letting you heal first I was pushing you away. I wonder all the time if I had just stopped and not pushed you to give me what I wanted if somehow we could have eventually come together. So now I will be your friend because not having you in my life at all is worse than having to be just a friend.”

The tears are running down my cheek and he pulls me into his arms. He doesn’t say anything else just rubs the back of my neck. Why can’t I love this guy? How can my heart want anyone else? I put my arms around his waist and hold tight which is a good thing because just then we run aground. The boat stops suddenly and we are pitched forward. Brad puts the engine in reverse but all that happens is brown silt is churned up by the outboard motor. Brad cuts the engine so we don’t burn it out.

“Looks like we’re stuck here for a while,” he says as he puts his arms back around me. “High tide is in about an hour so we shouldn’t have to wait too long to get free.”

I can’t help but laugh. It starts out as a chuckle but starts to build. I feel his responding laugh starting as I pull away and look up at him, “Well this is a familiar dilemma. But I am not jumping in the water to get us unstuck. If we need to lighten up you are going in.”

“It’s my boat and I have to drive it,” he is still laughing.

“Yes but you weigh almost two of me so we will rise twice as far. And you’re stronger than me, you can push us off. And I have driven this boat before.” I point out.

“Like seven or eight years ago,” he says. “It’s a moot point anyway, I don’t mind waiting on the tide.”

I walk to the bow and sit on one of the benches there, “Fine we will wait for the tide.”

He comes and sits opposite of me, “Well then finish telling me about Bobby and Stuart.”

And just like that I have my friend back. I tell him everything, all my feelings and fears. The fact that my body still reacts to Bobby when he touches me or even looks at me. That I’m scared he’ll break me apart but more scared that if I don’t give it a chance I will regret it for the rest of my life. I tell him about my night with Stuart and that I can’t see myself with him this time next month.

Then he asks me a question that floors me, “Out of all the men in your life, who can you see still being there with you in five years?”

My only answer, “You.”

I was never one of those people who knew they wanted to be an author at the age of six. I didn’t have imaginary friends. I didn’t write stories in my journal or entertain my relatives by firelight after Thanksgiving dinner. For the most part, I was just a normal, everyday kid. I liked to read, but I wasn’t exceptional at it. And when my teachers complimented me on my writing abilities, I brushed them off. I did, however, always have a penchant for the unique and absurd. And as my mother told me all throughout my childhood, I should have been an actress—I was a drama queen before my time.
Years ago, my husband bought me Scarlett: The Sequel to Gone With The Wind. If you ever saw the book, you know it’s a long one. I sat and read that thing from cover to cover, and dreamed of one day being a writer. But I didn’t actually try my hand at writing until years later when I quit my teaching job to stay home with my kids. And my husband? After that week of reading where I neglected him and everything else until I finished Scarlett, he vowed never to buy me another book again. Little did he know I’d one day end up sitting at a keyboard all day drafting my own stories.

My writing journey has not been easy. I didn’t just sit down one day, decide I was going to write a book and voila! sell my very first attempt. As most authors will probably agree, the path to publication is filled with hours of work, pulling all-nighters I thought I’d given up in college, sacrifices, rejections, but a love I discovered along the way I just can’t live without. Instead of a big, thick book to read by lamplight (I do read much smaller ones when I get the chance), I’ve traded in my reading obsession for a laptop. And I’ve never been happier.

I’m one of the lucky ones. I have a wonderful family and fabulous husband who put up with my writing—and obsessive personality—even when life is chaotic. More than once my kids have been late to swimming or baseball because I needed just five more minutes to finish a scene. Their support and encouragement mean the world to me. I also have amazing friends and a support network I couldn’t survive without. So to all of you out there who have encouraged me along the way, sent me emails and fan letters, phone calls and congratulations, I just want to say, thank you. You make this whole writing gig that much more enjoyable. I truly wouldn’t be here without you.

WOW!! That is the word for this book! Every book just gets better! I absolutely loved it!! I read it in 2 days and could not put it down.
This is Laura and Charon’s story.
Charon is a man set apart. Instead of making a home at the castle and the other warriors he returned to his home town. He is hurting for the decisions he had to make in the past. He thinks he doesn’t deserve to be happy after his betrayal.
Laura Black has worked for Charon for several years and she has longed for him to notice her. She is running from her family and just wants to have a home. Laura has become a target. They are running from an evil like none that has ever come before. She is thrown into this world she didn’t know existed. It seems like there is no hope for a future with her and Charon. Can they set aside their past and learn to trust each other? Charon has to learn to forgive himself and Laura needs to learn to confront her past and stop running.
Midnight’s Captive is fast past and has got tons of action! I loved the side stories in this book.  We get to spend more time with the other warriors that we fell in love with and their druids. There is also another happily ever after! =) I’ve been wondering if he would get his story and he does! I won’t say who. No spoilers! I also loved that the Dragon Kings are involved. It gets me even more excited to see where their series goes! I can’t wait until they meet there heroines and shake up there lives!  To sum it up this book is amazing! The romance is HOT! It is very well written and I can’t wait until the next one!

~Review~ Hers to Command by Patricia A. Knight

Absolutely enjoyed this book!! Erotica can be a hit or miss for a reader. The author has outdone herself with this awesome book. Like most Erotic books all you have is plain sex; however, Patricia Knight has brought that and more to sci-fi, sex, and love all into one book. One thing that I love about a book is when there is a story line and it has some explanation to get you ready for what is to come, while some authors will just keep going on and on THIS book did not. In my opinion Hers to Command gave the readers just enough intro and explanation to make you want to keep reading.

As with all my other books I choose to read the cover has to be calling me. Hers to Command’s covers gives you great bold colors and then tops it off with two men (who you will get to know through the story, I do not give any spoilers ) and a gorgeous blue eyed women. This was what first intrigued me to want to receive the book and read it.

Each of the main characters will pull you into their own struggles and what they are facing if they do not pull through together! The main female character (Princess Fleur) will do anything to save her planet, including her sanity. And yes when we say she may possibly lose her sanity! She truly shows her love for her people and wanting to keep peace and protect her world from those that threaten it. As you learn in the description of the book and also throughout the book you will see why Conte Ari did not want a marriage forced upon him. Viconte Doral has been by Ari’s side throughout many years, will he be able to take on the challenge bestowed upon him to help the one he loves.

Much like other great books, where there are heroes there comes also Villains! In this book there are two, but for each of their own reasoning behind wanting to take over Verdantia. Can two Villains work together and achieve the destruction of Verdantia? Or will Princess Fleur, Ari, and Doral be able to find what they have to accomplish and save their world?
I will highly recommend anyone that enjoys a good Erotic Sci Fi Book with a touch of Romance.

~Review~ Born: The Born Trilogy

Are you looking to read something new that will keep your mind going. One of my favorite authors is Tara Brown, each of her books that I have read I enjoyed them.  I have just recently finished reading Born: The Born Trilogy and loved the book from start until end.  I love reading everything from Romance to Fantasy and Science Fiction. I am fairly new with reading Dystopia books, but it is definitely starting to become on more of my to reads list. The first thing that always attracts me to a book is the covers and this cover was calling to me! Her talent has continuously kept me interested and I enjoy that she has her own style of writing which wheels her fans in, even with this book being slightly different than her other ones and having a deeper meaning the world. .

I could not stand to put the book down and couldn’t wait to start reading the next one. You can see that the female main character (Emma) has continuously had to endure and overcome obstacles to become the strong women she is. Another thing that the author has added to this book that made me like it, was that it had things that could happen to us at any time. I am fairly new with reading Dystopia books, but it is definitely starting to become on more of my to reads list. I would highly recommend this book and the others to any readers.

    After pressing the button for the 53^rd floor, Zach quickly flashed a glance over at the mystery beauty and acknowledged her with a polite smile and a calm “You’re welcome”. Once he had done so, he tried to avert his eyes to avoid making her feel uncomfortable. Zach looked up at the ceiling of the elevator….mirrors. Then he glanced over at the back wall of the elevator….mirrors. But what he saw in them was the reflection of a beautiful stranger with a stare planted firmly on him. Her curiosity began to grow more now. She started to eye Zach up and down to get a good look at him. Zach suddenly became uneasy because he knew how this always ended for him. Or at least he thought he did. As he expected her too, the mysterious woman ceased to relent with her questioning.

“Say….you must be someone important if you’re staying on the 72^nd floor,” she pondered out loud.

“Or have a good night at the blackjack tables!” he quickly joked.

The momentary laughter their shared over that statement served to ease Zach’s tension for only a matter of minutes. Zach didn’t know what to say next and neither did the mystery beauty. He glanced up again at the floor-counter above the doors, thinking he had successfully dodged a bullet. 14^th floor! This elevator was quickly becoming a prison of sorts and Zach’s anxiety grew. He wondered the likelihood of them making it to the 53^rd floor before the inevitable happened. Probably not he thought to himself. He glanced back over at his co-pilot on this magic carpet ride and found her still intently fixated on him with her stare.

“No ma’am….can’t say as I know him.”

“I suppose not,” the mystery woman suggested. “Most men don’t read romance novels anyways.”

“You can say that again!” Zach quickly joked.

When I first started to read this book I thought that this would be a book with the thriller part of just the love struggle between the same men wanting the same women. I was definitely wrong with this intial though. The author weaves the book in the beginning to make you think that you have it all figured out just to get a shock of twists as the story continues.  I love seeing beautiful covers so was more than willing to see what treasures lay in this one.

Kate and her best friend Charlie have decided to venture out and move in an apartment that they believe is a quiet and friendly complex. This was a fresh beginning for both and new opportunities. Even the complex manager, Roger, who lives next door appears to be nice.  After life has taken a toll, Kate has decided to start living again and including going to college. Strange things start to happen when the ladies move into the apartment complex first starting with Roger taking an interest in when Kate comes and goes. Then when she goes to college and meets Mark who is almost all of her classes and has all the attention of the women on campus but would like to know Kate. Also being new to the college, Kate is assigned a mentor Neil, who has stood her up but refuses to take no for an answer when he attempts to contact Kate. So Kate has three men who all are wanting her attention, which she is not used to, and to top it all off they are all amazingly sexy. However, not all of it seems to be good!! I will say this, all three of them have a different motive and very different personalities.

Overall I enjoyed this book and the story, only thing that I did have an issue with was a phase that was continuously mentioned, but the author picked it for a reason and I respect their choices. Carlie Sexton makes you keep wanting to go on when you read and also at times in the book you just stop and have a blow your mind moment.  As the author shows on the cover it is a first part of a book so there will be more and the second one is already out and available for purchase.  I would definitely recommend this book to everyone that enjoys romance/thriller/ and suspense all in one sitting. I will be starting to read the second one shortly.
